Key

The car key on 6 Tanglewood Drive.

Keys are used to unlock exit doors to investigation areas within maps, or to turn off a car alarm.

Usage

At the start of every investigation, the location's Main Door Key will be hung on the hook beside the door keypad in the truck. A player needs to collect it in order to unlock the exit doors and enter the location. If the map has a car, a car key can also be found within the map; using a car key on the car will cause it to beep twice and turn off the alarm if it was previously on.

Keys are shared across all players and can be used at any time, except during hunts where all exit doors will be locked. Keys that have been collected in the contract will show up in the journal.

Types of keys

• Main Door Key: Found in the truck, the Main Door Key is used to unlock the main door or side doors of a building.
• Car Key: Found in 6 Tanglewood Drive, 13 Willow Street, 42 Edgefield Road, and 10 Ridgeview Court. Can be used to turn off car alarms set off by the ghost.
• Cabin Key: Found in Maple Lodge Campsite, under the rug near the cabin door. Used to unlock the door to the Cabin.
• Lantern Cabinet Key: Found in Point Hope, at the pool ball exit after solving a certain riddle at the pool. Can be used to unlock the lantern cabinet in Lantern Room.

Trivia

• In earlier updates, Garage Keys and Basement Keys were formerly present on certain small maps, intended to unlock the doors to their respective rooms. These doors could also be locked by the ghost.

5 January 2020	Collected keys are now permanent.
