Key

The car key on Tanglewood Street.

Keys are used to unlock exit doors to investigation areas within maps, or to turn off a car alarm.

Usage

One Main Door Key will spawn on the table in the van for every contract, allowing the player to unlock exit doors after collecting it. A car key can also be found within the map, if there is a toggleable car; using a car key on the car will cause it to beep twice, and turn off the alarm if it was previously on. Keys are shared across all players and can be used at any time, except during hunts where all exit doors will be locked.

Types of keys

• Main Door Key: Found in the Van, the Main Door Key is used to unlock the main door or side doors of a building.
• Car Key: Found on the Tanglewood Street House, Willow Street House, Edgefield Street House, and Ridgeview Road House Maps. Can be used to turn off car alarms set off by the Ghost.
• Cabin Key: Found in Maple Lodge Campsite, under the rug near the cabin door. Used to unlock the door to the Cabin.

Trivia

• Garage Keys and Basement Keys were formerly present on certain small maps, intended to unlock the doors to their respective rooms. Certain other doors could also be randomly locked, or locked by the ghost, requiring additional keys spawned in the house to be unlocked. The door-locking feature for non-exit doors was removed, followed by the removal of the respective keys in a later update.
