History[]
2018[]
Daniel Knight (Dknighter) is believed to have begun work on Spectrophobia from as early as 2018, with the earliest changelog available for the game in early-alpha dating back to December 2019. On 3 March 2020, the game was renamed Phasmophobia, and the company was renamed to Kinetic Games. It is unknown what the company was named prior.
2021[]
Before mid-2021, a person known as Botsero on the official Phasmophobia Discord was the main tester and idea curator for the game, though he was technically not considered part of Kinetic Games. Botsero has since retired.
On 18 June 2021, Knight announced the addition of two new members to the company, Corey J. Dixon (cjdxn) as the Art Director and Benjamin Lavender (Lavender) as a Senior Developer. The latter then became Lead Programmer then Tech Director.
2022[]
Kinetic Games announced the addition of Jack Skinner (Skinner) as an Environment Artist on 16 May 2022.
